I am a PhD student working on the dynamics of Leptospirosis in the environment supervised by Prof. Mike Begon and Prof Peter Diggle. I am particularly interested in how understanding the environmental reservoir can help to predict epidemics of human infection. My background is in the theory of ecology and evolution. My Master’s thesis looked at modelling the natural history of Ficus obtusifolia in the environment including whether the type of interaction between fig species in the past produced present pattern of species occurrence.
I have experience with field studies in natural and urban environments, including Pantanal, Cerrado and urban slums Brazil and also on study design and statistical analysis related to population or community ecology. Broadly, my interests are problem solving using the application of scientific (theoretical) knowledge.
